We mailed about 17,000 notices of assessment change to property owners in the fire area. We have now started to receive many back as undeliverable – well over a thousand in Palisades alone. That means that the property tax refund checks that were mailed are also being returned as undeliverable.

The issue is that we mail to the address that we have on file – typically the actual property address, which in this case, is damaged or destroyed. We desperately need property owners to update their mailing address to ensure that they receive their refunds and other critical documents.

There are two options: the best is to register your property and set up an online profile. This lets property owners do many things online, including mailing address update. The second option is a simple change of mailing address. Links to both are below.

(1)   Register Property – Create Owner Profile: https://assessorsso.assessor.lacounty.gov/csr/?backUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fassessor.lacounty.gov%2Flogin

(2)   Change of Mailing Address: https://assessor.lacounty.gov/homeowners/change-mailing-address

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for all your great leadership in the community in response to the fires.

Thank you,
