Palisades Powerlines to go Underground

Good news! For those who have been waiting and wondering since the fire, the LADWP has officially confirmed that they will underground all powerlines throughout the Palisades as part of the rebuild.

Since the fire, crews have replaced approximately 800 power poles to quickly restore electricity to the area. In the future, these will be removed, lines will be relocated underground and the voltage and capacity are due to be increased.

Although much of the funding will be through FEMA grants, there is no guarantee that some costs won’t be passed to LADWP customers over time. Those costs have been estimated at anywhere from $1 MILLION – $14 MILLION per mile! It will certainly be a positive improvement for the community.
